Training Schedule as of the 18th of June there will only be Sunday training for the junior fleet. This will teach the juniors better sailing skills with a larger fleet to train with. This training will remain free for members.
Staff ChangesBrittany Nicholas will now be the head of junior sailing. You can contact her via email SailTraining@pfsyc.asn.au or on her mobile 0488 952 934. If you would like to come in and speak to her please contact her first so she can make sure she will be in the office.
Leasing Boats and Boat StorageAs of the 1st of July we are introducing a new fee structure aimed at better maintaining the club boats used for junior training. Those who wish to continue to train with us will be assigned an Optimist and will be charged a quarterly fee of $50. Those who already own their own Optimist will be charged a $50 fee if they wish to store their boats in our sheds. Forms to either lease an optimist or to lease storage are attached.
Winter Season training goalThis winter season we are aiming at getting our Optimists into racing starting off with potentially racing in Nedlands Yacht Club fleet some weekends, and then competing in some of the other clubs winter regattas. This leads us to our ultimate goal of having junior racing on Sundays in the new 2017/2018 Summer Season. We will continue to have trainings in the morning then racing in the afternoon during our summer season with the intention to have mid week training after school for those interested.
Progression from OptimistsOn Wednesday the 14th of June the will be a briefing for starting procedures and the use of flags. We recommend Parents and juniors attend the evening. Presentation starts at 7:30pm. We will be working with juniors over the next few months to understand these procedures as well as right of way and many more skills, tips and tricks before we get them racing. As part of this I would like to have an information evening in July/August with parents and juniors as to keep them in the loop with the club plus discuss potentially bringing other fleets into the club as our juniors grow out of the Optimists. Information about this will be announced at a later date.
Medical InformationAs there has been a change in staff, if Parents could please let Brittany know as soon as possible of any allergies or medical conditions. They will be kept confidential but if it is vital information it will be passed onto coaches when necessary. If parents have an action plan for any allergies and medical conditions it would be appreciated if we were able to get a copy of this too.
