Committee Planning Strategy Day

As you know the Club recently sent out a short survey in order to better understand the needs, wants and values of the Members.  The response rate was unbelievably high with 61% of those surveyed responding.  The key issues that were raised by Members were recently addressed, with the Committee spending an entire Saturday here at the Club in a Strategic Planning day, evaluating the Members’ responses so they could better understand the Members.

So thank you to all the Members who responded to the Survey.  The Members raised the values of the Club, and the Committee listened.

The Committee formulated four Strategic Themes for the Club to become the Club of choice for Perth Boating and Social Events.  Our Mission is to encourage and support recreational boating and camaraderie by providing and maintaining services and facilities for members.  The four Strategic Themes for 2018/19 are:

  1. Members: To understand, maintain and grow our membership.
    1. To understand and communicate with our members

  1. Services and Facilitates: To protect, maintain and renew services and facilities
    1. Provision of a wave attenuator to protect the club facilities and boats
    2. To maintain the quality and standard of the club bar and food

  1. Events: To provide members with a range of boating and social events
    1. Increase land-based events
    2. Maintain the club’s current boating events
    3. Development of junior and dingy sailing program
    4. Develop a bank of incentives to encourage member participation in the club

  1. History and culture: To respect our history and maintain our culture
    1. Review, revise and communicate our club charter / code of conduct to members
    2. Review and revise our club induction

The Committee will continue with the short surveys each quarter and combine the results with the New Member Induction Evenings and Members Q&A session on the last Friday of each quarter.  The next New Member Induction Evening is scheduled for 6pm on Friday, August 31, followed by the Members Q&A session at 6.30pm.  The quarterly buffet will follow in the Members lounge at 7pm.

Once again, thank you for your support and participation.

Jetty Gates

Just a friendly reminder that shortly we will have automatic openers and closers on all Jetty Gates. Members will be able to access the Jetty using the keypad (code to be supplied to each Member on each Jetty) or a fob (which will also open the main gate). To exit the Jetty you will simply have to push the green button on the Jetty and the gate will automatically open and close. This means you will need to carry with you your fob at all times.
Should you have any queries on concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Cork Evans Time Trial

Storage Units (Lockers) Available

Tired of having to bring down all the supplies every time you head out or have some maintenance to do. Don't forget we have lockable storage units (lockers) available for hire. Approximately 2m x 2m x 2m, and if that's too much space you can always share with a friend. Great for storing all those items that take up room at home or on the boat (skis, ropes, spare sails, cleaning products, tenders and outboards, fuel containers etc).
Just think, another shed, a place to hide those extra little purchases, make room to move around the shed at home, and reduce that nagging feeling.
We only have a few left so please contact our Membership Manager Sam on members@pfsyc.asn.au for further details or to secure your spot.

Dinghy Racks Available

Don't forget that we have Dinghy Racks for hire if you want to keep your decks clear during your Winter day trips. Keep those kayaks, paddle boards, or tenders safe but still in a convenient location at the Club so they are there when you need them.
Take advantage of our Winter Special - $100/rack from June 1 2018 - November 1 2018
Please contact our Membership Manager Sam on members@pfsyc.asn.au for further details or to secure your spot.

Junior Sailing Prize Donations

Should anyone be interested in donating prizes for our Junior Sailing Raffles please contact reception on reception@pfsyc.asn.au
Any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated.

Members Tips - Refuelling

When refuelling at our Club, and most other outlets the following should be observed;

  1. Moor boat securely, but with the ability to vacate quickly if requried
  2. Turn motor off
  3. Move passengers to the shore side of the fuel dispenser
  4. Avoid radio and phone use
  5. Ensure you know where the boat and land extinguishes are located
  6. Advice Club/business/authorities if there has been a fuel spill
