JUNIOR SAILING
Junior Sailing at PFSYC
Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club is a family Club and very much committed to introducing the next generation of sailors to our sport.
Known as the "Family Friendly Club on the River" the Club caters for all ages and abilities. For those inexperienced or new to sailing, a variety of training courses are available, offering a structured pathway from total beginner to keen competitor.
Would your children like to learn to sail or are you just looking for an engaging children's holiday or weekend activity?
Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club conducts popular training for younger sailors on Sunday and Start Sailing programmes throughout the year.
Sailing for the younger children is offered in a fleet of Optimist dinghies. Optimists are a single-hander and one of the most popular and strongest small dinghy classes in Australia.
Sailing with friends is even more fun and we find if children learn alongside their mates their enjoyment increases and it's much more likely they will stick with sailing long-term. Juniors do, of course, also make a lot of new friends at the Club.
Our Junior Sail Training is a great way for your children to get a head start in sailing. At PFSYC we provide a fun, safe, practical and affordable sport that welcomes participation from all backgrounds and ages. We have fee package options available to Members and Non-Members, as well as being able to accommodate for those young tackers who don't have dinghies.

Junior Tackers Start Sailing School Holiday Programmes at PFSYC

Our School Holiday Programmes "Start Sailing", are run by experienced coaches and are an increasingly popular way to get your child involved in sailing and develop a passion for being out on the water.
The 20 hour course builds sailing skills and encourages children to become confident and independent sailors. In addition, it introduces children to gybing, tacking, man over board recovery, and use of tiller extensions.
Junior Sailing Development Fundraising Programme
In June 2018, Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club established the Junior Sailing Development Program with the Australian Sports Foundation. Through the DGR status, donations made to the Australian Sports Foundation over $2, are tax-deductible.
Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club is aiming to raise much needed funds for our Junior Sailors.
Funds raised will go a long way to help our junior sailors and their development as well as helping us invest in junior infrastructure.
