Givenchy has worked in the marine industry for 25 years, is a member of various marine institutes and is the importer of Beneteau sail and power. He is married to Meagan and has 3 children, Fynn, Taylor and Estella whom are Members also.
His long association with Squadron commenced in the early 80’s when he joined the junior sailing programme learning on Manly Junior’s, then progressing to the Flying Ant, Moth, Sailing and Etchell classes, representing WA and Australia in many of these classes.
His love of sailing turned to the offshore circuit and was fortunate to have many mentors from the Club (Retired Commodore & Life Member Rob Brown and Life Members Colin Keevil, Peter Jarman) guide him and support him down his journey.
He has represented the Squadron in many various offshore races/regattas over 25 years around Australia and internationally. For the past 8 years he has competed in a Beneteau First 40.7 in the International China Cup held in Hong Kong and Shenzhen China representing PFSYC. A highlight for him was competing and co-helming a Beneteau First 40 to victory in the prestigious Sydney to Hobart yacht race in 2010. Givenchy has an Etchell at the Club and competes regularly. He intends to compete in the upcoming Australian & World Regattas.
He also has a keen interest in power boats. He owns a Mariner 31 which is kept at the Club. From a very young age he has competed in the sport of power boat time trialling. He and his father, retired Commodore Alan Langer 1989 –1991, competed together for many years wining a state title. Givenchy competes regularly to this day representing the Club with his son Fynn as navigator.
Givenchy has been a Member of the Club for approximately 24 years and currently is Vice Commodore.
