Steve graduated with a iBachelor of Commerce in 1974 majoring in accounting and business administration. Soon after graduation, he joined Michael Kailis Gulf Fisheries in 1975, working for his group for 7 years in corporate finance. The job involved initially working in factories in Dongara, Exmouth, Flinders Island, Darwin to eventually running the prawning operation in Groote Island for one year after it was bought back from Gollin kyokuyo. He then went on to Price Waterhouse in their management consulting division for 1.5 years. Following that he worked for Lasata Computer consultants where he commenced business installing financial system in Western Australia and the Pacific. Opened an office in Fiji, with clients included Fiji and Tongan governments & PNG Banking Corporation before expanding into software development. In 2019, he built and operated a restaurant (for 2 years) called Colourpatch in Augusta Western Australia before leasing it a known operator retaining the property ownership.

 

Involved in boating since university, Steve owned several boats before acquiring Black Swan from Warren Jones estate 21 year ago, maintaining and keeping the boat involved in yachting and regatta’s during this time.

 

Whilst at the Claremont Yacht Club he became treasurer for 5 years and took on the responsibility of improving the club’s financial position during this time whilst funding renovations / development of the downstairs bar restaurant area. He ensured the club never outstretched its financial capacity whilst providing appropriate reserves for future development, essential land based and on water maintenance and he left the club with a much-improved financial position. Whilst at Claremont Yacht Club he enjoyed participating in club events including the power boat time trialling.

 

Steve is retired, and pleased to be part of the PFSYC Committee moving forward. 


Steve has been a Member of PFSYC for 3 years and currently holds a position on our General Committee.
